Premiere Week 2011!

Will Arnett and Christina Applegate in UP ALL NIGHT

This might come as a shock to those of you who regularly read this blog, but … I love TV. And although the “fall television season” is not what it used to be now that so many television series premiere in the winter and even the summer, there are still plenty of new shows to be excited about. That’s why I volunteered to write some short reviews of two particularly exciting series premieres, The CW’s Ringer and NBC’s Up All Night, over at Antenna.

"Look, I'm standing in front of a mirror! Because I'm a twin! Twins love mirrors!"

My short reviews of Ringer  (click here) and Up All Night (click here) are live now. If you are simply too lazy to read these 300 word reviews (and I can appreciate that kind of laziness), I will summarize for you: Ringer is a Sarah Michelle Gellar vehicle about twins, mirrors, and identity theft (meh) and Up All Night is a surprising funny comedy about how babies ruin your otherwise super-awesome life (check it out!). There are no vampires in either program. Yep, that bummed me out too.

“25 or 6 to 4”!?! Seriously? I kinda hate it when ass-kicking women like Gellar and Summer Glau suddenly lose their powers, but I’m curious about it. Also, I might have to check out UAN just for the “Rocky Top”…

Speaking of ass-kicking women, you look pretty ass-kicky in that avatar, woman! RINGER is worth checking out because sometimes pilots are not very indicative of what the show ends up being. The premise is really interesting so I feel like it *has* to get better. And since it’s on the CW, there will be time for the show to spread its wings before it is cancelled. As for UP ALL NIGHT, I was pleasantly surprised! One of my favorite moments, which I could not squeeze into my 300 word review, occurs when the parents argue over who was forced to stay awake the longest the previous night. It’s a stupid (albeit realistic) squabble and when it’s over Chris (played by Arnett) causally suggests “Do you want to do it real quick?’ Hilarious and perfect. But I can’t tell if I feel this way because I am only now exiting the delirious period of parenting a small baby.

Ha – thanks! I’m only Trinity in the first MATRIX – none of the crappy sequels.

FWIW, I want to check out these shows more after your posts.
